What are the aims?

The aims of the directive are to minimise the amount of waste from E.L.V disposal. The majority of the waste produced is hazardous and harmful to our environment. Now when cars are scrapped we are required to remove as much as possible that can be reused or recycled. Current legislation dictates that 75% of ELV’s should be recycled one way or another. The aim of the ELV directive is to increase that figure to 95% by January 2015. The only way this will be achieved is through depollution, this will maximise the amount that can be recovered from each vehicle.
